Self Defense Techniques

We live in a violent world. It’s a simple fact. Turn on the news on any given day and you are likely to hear about a new violent crime. Men being shot or beaten to death, women being raped and/or killed, children being kidnapped. It happens all the time and not to scare you, but it could happen to you. That is why it is important for you to learn some basic self defense techniques to protect yourself.

Having a taser, pepper spray or even a gun is great, but those are only tools, and tools have a tendency to fail when you need them most. I have seen men get hit with a taser and keep on fighting. I’ve also met people who have built up a resistance to pepper spray. And a gun, as well as any other self defense weapon, is only as good as it’s users accuracy and willingness to use it. I’m not saying you should or shouldn’t use these self defense tools, I’m just saying that, when all else fails, you should have some good self defense techniques to fall back on.

That’s why I have created this site. I’m filling it with some of the best self defense techniques that anyone can learn and perform. You can find self defense techniques for men, women and even children here. And yes, if you want to use a weapon I do discuss that a bit as well, I even cover how to find and use improvised weapons. Plus, I have found a great site to buy non-lethal weapons from as well. I just want to help you keep yourself safe.

So what kind of self defense techniques can you find here? Well, all the moves that I have included here are simple, easy to learn, and best of all, easy to perform. They are almost all gross motor movement techniques, which means that you don’t have to do anything complex during a fight. After all, when your adrenalin really gets pumping, anything that requires fine motor movement goes out the window. It is kind of like trying to unlock your car in a horror movie when the monster is right behind you, the fear of being in a life or death situation makes things that seem simple very hard to do. So imagine trying to do some fancy self defense move like a joint manipulation. You know, the kind of stuff you have trouble doing at the dojo, when your life is not on the line. Not going to be easy, right? That’s why I think the best self defense techniques are the simple ones, the ones so basic even a kid could pull them off. But, just because they are easy doesn’t mean they don’t work. They are very efficient, otherwise you would be wasting your time learning them.

Take a look around and see what there is to learn for yourself. But just remember, self defense isn’t just about earning different colored belts, and it isn’t about being able to beat up your sparring partner. It’s about learning how to survive if, God forbid, you find yourself facing a violent criminal. It could be someone who wants your wallet, or someone who’s just looking to pick a fight. Whatever happens, knowing even the most basic self defense techniques can mean the difference between walking away, or being carried away on a gurney.
